Angels Take Doubleheader in Chicago

Bats Come Alive Amidst Many Chances, Bullpen Hangs On To Help Weaver

YAY!

FInal Score in Game 2: Angels 7 White Sox 5

Let's Take Two!

Joe Smith got his second save of the Day as he set the White Sox down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth, something every other Angels pitcher seemed to have trouble doing.

Jered Weaver may have struck out six but he was wobbly early and often, pitching into the sixth but unable to get out of it. Rich Hill walked the one batter he faced and Mike Morin came in to get a strikeout and end the sixth inning with two men on. Weaver was in line for the win and Kevin Jepsen pitched a simple seventh to make sure it stayed that way. Jason Grilli put a man on and then got a sharp liner baseball-godded into the glove of a leaping Erick Aybar.

And if you thought that was a miracle the skill-play of the year came next, with Aybar getting all the way int he hole so he had passed Howie Kendrick at 2B - in soccer he would have been offsides! He tossed the ball to Howie, who threw it to Cron to complete the 1-6-4-3 Double Play to save Grilli and keep it a two-run lead.

Can you tell I was at Pep Boys for the middle innings? A doubleheader starts to cramp your style at some point. I missed the two-run home run by Kole Calhoun but we obviously needed it, right? Right! Light that baby up - it was was a doubleheader sweep in Chicago and the Angels go for a three game sweep of the Pale Hose tomorrow night.
