Nick Maronde DFA, CJ to DL, Drew Rucinski Called Up

Lot of shuffling of pitching in Anaheim today. Let's go over the moves:

Relief Pitcher Nick Maronde was Designated for Assignment. He will likely not be claimed and will be back at AA Arkansas in a short time. He will be off the 40-Man Roster though. Nick had allowed 34 Walks in 18 Innings Pitched for the Travelers this season so there was no point in thinking he would contribute to the big club this season.

Maronde's spot on the 40Man Roster allows the Angels to select the contract of journeyman Drew Rucinski, a recent signee out of independent ball. He will be in uniform tonight in Texas to pitch out of the bullpen as Cam Bedrosian was optioned back o the minor leagues.

Following so far? That is not even all of it...

After a wimpy performance yesterday, C.J. Wilson was put on the Disabled List with a sprained ankle. More like a chance to have his head examined but the Lefty former All Star is eligible to pitch again for the Angels on July 24. The Halos will not need a fifth starer until July 22 because of the All Star Break so let's see what happens. This could play out just fine considering the terrible starts Wilson has phoned in over the past month.

Because Wilson was DL'd the Angels are able to call back pitcher Cory Rasmus from the minors and he will be in the pen tonight in Arlington.
