All Star Short Stop Erick Aybar pulled his groin running out a single in Friday night's extra inning win. He was taken out of the game immediately. After the game MIke Scioscia said that Aybar will be re-examined tomorrow and that he would likely not play on Saturday. Scioscia said that Aybar is too valuable to the team not to take as much time is needed to get Aybar back to as healthy as possible.

Look for Grant Green to get a start at Short Stop on Saturday night and perhaps also Sunday. In a twisted bit of irony, just a few hours before Aybar's injury, the Angels traded Jose Rondon, the Venezuelan minor leaguer who was seen as being groomed as Aybar's eventual replacement. Rondon was one of four players traded to the Padres for veteran closer Huston Street.

Aybar was playing in 1,001st major league baseball game Friday. All of them have been with the Angels.
