The heating up David Freese will take a night off as manager Mike Sciosca has started John McDonald at 3B tonight against the Astros.
Here is the lineup for the Angels:
- Kole Calhoun RF
- Mike Trout CF
- Albert Pujols 1B
- Josh Hamilton LF
- Erick Aybar SS
- Howie Kendrick 2B
- C.J. Cron DH
- Hank Conger C
- John McDonald 3B
And Hector Santiago is on the mound with a new reliever behind him - Michael Roth. This is an interesting addition to the Halo Pen as Cory Rasmus was holding his own and Roth had been summarily bumped off the 40-Man roster earlier this season and has been starting for AA Arkansas.
As predicted Rich Hill was DFA'd and Joe Thatcher takes his spot on the active roster.
Roth in the pen could be a trade audition although the team had held him back from a start last week in case of an injury or trouble with pitching depth in the rain in Kansas City and Chicago last week. But the Roth bump is an unexpected move to say the least.
