Mentioned this a while back, but now hearing increased chatter that #Mariners have interest in veteran free-agent catcher Chris Iannetta.

The idea that Jerry Dipoto wants to bring Chris Iannetta to Seattle shouldn't be all that surprising. Iannetta was actually the first player Dipoto acquired when he took on the job as Angels GM, and while he was extremely rocky at times, Iannetta managed to retain some value on the defensive side, with intermittent success and big hits at the plate.
Iannetta is currently a free agent, and is looking at an Angels situation that has the talented newcomer Carlos Perez biting into his prospective playing time, as well as young prospect(and excellently named) Jett Bandy champing at the bit to become a permanent fixture to the Halos' roster.
Chris "Destructobeam" Iannetta's days in Anaheim may be over by the time the winter meetings are through, and I'm ok with that. Carlos Perez needs more playing time, and it'd be nice to see what Bandy can do. These options allow them to focus elsewhere besides the catcher position, and it'd also most likely be better for Iannetta, if he is still wanting to get some major playing time behind the dish. Another Angel may be flying up to the Emerald City at the behest of our old pal Jerry, but in this case, I'd say "Good luck and good bye!".
