Maybe the Angels should have let Will Ferrell start one day sooner as veteran Jered Weaver was rustier than most of Ferrell's old skits out on the mound Wednesday afternoon.

Weaver was charged with two earned runs over three innings pitched. He faced one batter in the fourth, did not get him out and was removed then. He never threw anything faster than 85 MPH and that was his fastball.

But don't panic. Weaver is forty pounds heavier this Spring and needs to work on building muscle memory for his infamously complicated pitching mechanics.

They say don't panic and half the fans say "Whew" and the other half say "85 is 85" and me I sit so patiently waiting to find out what price you have to pay to get a sportswriter to say something nice like "32 is 32, let the old dog take his time marking the fire hydrant" and leave it at that.

Final score was 6-5 in favor of the Trumboless Diamondbacks. C.J. Wilson tweaked his knee and will be skipping a start according to the rumor mill. Oh mama, could this really be the spring, to be stuck inside of Tempe with the Anaheim familiar ring?
