The Angels may have worked out some pitching kinks today in their fifth game of the Spring while their 2B question mark remains unresolved because candidate was awesome.
Andrew Heaney was crisp in three innings pitched, allowing a run but stirking out two major leaguers including Joey Votto. If that wasn't enough to pencil him in for "April Action of Anaheim" his closest competitor for the rotation's #5 spot, Nick Tropeano, basically stunk.
Mike Scioscia threw Chris Iannetta under the bus on Tropeano's account, pointing out that the veteran Catcher has to get used to the stuff of the rookie. yeah, uh, no. Two hard hit homers happen prior to the catcher's glove interacting with anything.
A late meltdown by a reliever who just ain't going anywhere with the team but maybe AAA led to a 7-5 walk off homer loss to the Reds but the bats were alive. The big news is 2B Johnny Giavotella crushing a home run but he did not get too far ahead of the 2B pack on the club - Grant Green, Josh Rutledge and Taylor Featherston each had singles.
Still plenty of baseball to be played and decisions to be made.
