Force is Weak in Angels Loss to Sith Oakland

The sequels better be better than tonight.

Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 3 Athletics 6

On a night that the ineptitude of the Angels marketing division alienated every fan who did not type JEDI along the ticketmaster ordering path, the product on the field quashed the enthusiasm of everyone else.

Matt Shoemaker had no feel for his pitches and it showed. Meanwhile the Angels battled early with Mike Trout and Albert Pujols each going 2 for 2 in their first two plate appearances.

Both starting pitchers were gone before the end of the fourth but Oakland had a 5-3 lead and managed to put out the few meager threats that the Halos cobbled together.

These weren't the droids we were looking for.

Chris Iannetta and Johnny Giavotella left three runners on base each on a night where a little push here or there would have gone a long way. But don't ever tell them the odds, kid. Kole Calhoun represented the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning but he flew out after having struck out three times in the game.

The Halos are now 5-8 on the young season and 0-4 at home. And are in an even bigger hole with every parent whose kid came to the game for a Jedi Rally Monkey because of marketing department idiocy. Nobody will be fired over tonight's debacle on the field NOR will any of Arte's cronies suffer for ruining his brand with the fans at the turnstiles. And at least the team might get better.
