Final Score in Seattle: Mariners 4 Angels 1
Mike Trout homered off of Felix Hernandez for the second consecutive Opening Day. It would be the only Angels run of the game. With two on and two out in the top of the eighth inning, though, Trout struck out. He would later rob Logan Morrison of a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, less a moment of redemption and more just a reminder of what he does day in and day out
King Felix gave the Angels a few opportunities but there would be no capitalizing. With two on and no outs in the fifth Chris Iannetta did not bunt and after striking out saw Johnny Giavotella ground into a double play.
Jered Weaver pitched six innings, allowed four runs - two in the third and two in the fifth. The Angels ace gave up a solo home run to Dustin Ackley and only had one strikeout on the afternoon. Cesar Ramos made his Angels debut in relief and got two strikeouts in one scoreless inning. Matt Joyce grounded into a Fielders Choice twice debuting in the cleanup spot.
