Angels 5, Mariners 3
The Halo's finished their opening series taking 2 of three from Seattle with a 5-3 win. Runner-up Rookie of the Year, Matt Shoemaker got the win, while Albert Pujols showed why you don't pitch him up and in.
Matt Shoemaker (1-0, 4.50 ERA) scattered 6 hits over six innings in his 2015 debut. Although he allowed 2 home runs and three earned runs, Shoemaker didn't walk anyone and struck out five. Four relievers held the Angels' lead, with Huston Street getting his second save of the season.
Albert Pujols put the Angels on the board in the first inning with a huge home run to left. Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma sent a pitch up-and-in to Pujols, and Albert sent the next pitch into the upper deck, giving the Angels a 2-0 lead.
Huston Street pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to closeout the second win of the early season.
