#Angels 1st-round pick Sean Newcomb has been promoted to Class A Advanced Inland Empire, team announced. Will make his first start Saturday.

In a few years, we'll hopefully be figuring out this kid's nickname as he takes the mound for the Halos. I'm excited to see what he does.
Newcomb was sporting a nifty 1.83 ERA over seven starts with the Burlington Bees, where he had struck out 45 batters in 34.1 innings. His groundball rate of 59.5% leads all Angels minor league starters by far, as does his K/9 rate of 11.8.
If there has been any cause for concern, his walk rate has been elevated in recent starts, including 14 over his last 18 innings pitched. Something to monitor as he tests his arsenal in a hitter's league, against better competition.
