Most of you know that no team in baseball had more pickoffs than the Angels. Did you also know that no team in the AL had more runners caught stealing than the Angels? The Angels were second only to the Brewers in all of baseball when it came to throwing out would-be base stealers.
RK | Team | Pickoffs |
1 | Los Angeles Angels | 20 |
2 | Los Angeles Dodgers | 19 |
3 | Cincinnati Reds | 17 |
4 | Atlanta Braves | 14 |
4 | Minnesota Twins | 14 |
6 | Kansas City Royals | 13 |
7 | Colorado Rockies | 12 |
The Angels did lose a few of their pickoffs machines during the seasons since Hector Santiago had 4 and Joe Smith had 3. Nick Tropeano also had 4 pickoffs so it will be interesting to see where the Angels fall in 2017 for this stat.
RK | Team | CS |
1 | Milwaukee Brewers | 59 |
2 | Los Angeles Angels | 47 |
3 | Cincinnati Reds | 45 |
3 | New York Mets | 45 |
5 | Kansas City Royals | 42 |
Geovany Soto and Juan Graterol combined for 7 of these, but Carlos Perez led the way with 21 and Jett Bandy had an impressive 19. Bandy's caught stealing rate was 40% to Perez's 37.5% and Bandy threw out his 19 runners in 153 less innings than Perez.
Take a look at this video and see them in action. We also have Matt Shoemaker's 11 K game, Cam Bedrosian striking out the side for his first career save, and a touching (potential) farewell to fans but Jered Weaver.
