Eppler’s been a busy man and has made his first move of the post-election this afternoon, re-signing Andrew Bailey to a one-year contract to help fortify a very bad bullpen.
Bailey was released by the Phillies late last year and swooped up Eppler, he continued to pitch well, a 2.38 ERA and revitalized 93 mph fastball, down the stretch which led Eppler and co. to believe Bailey merited a second chance.
Hopefully, this is the first of a number of moves to address the bullpen. So far, it looks like Street, Bedrosian, and Bailey as the only locks for the pen. Billy still has his work cut out for him.
Update: The deal is a $1 million dollar deal with incentives, so it’s pretty low risk. Shane Robinson was designated for assignment to make room for him on the 40-man roster.
