Trout Porn: A home run, AND a stolen base. After already going 3 for 3 and making a great play in the field? And only a few games into Spring? Yeah, Mike Trout shall not be contained.
Ok, so I never made it to the Big Leagues. (I blame girls.) I am not an expert on how to hit a major league curveball (although I swear I could hit most Major League fastballs). But what I AM an expert on, and remain to this day, is how to dress in baseball stirrups. I mean, come on, it's my frikkin' handle and has been for a decade! And there is a reason for that!! I glory in the stirrup. Therefore, when I read this tidbit on how Sean Gilmartin assembles his uniform, I must remark. I find his results to be sterling. But his process is simply unnecessary.
So it's all on me now. I am committed to putting up a video of my own, demonstrating the perfectly fine and perfectly simple and perfectly effective technique. It's been 45 years since I last did it., but knowing how to dress like a ballplayer is the kind of thing one never forgets.

Everywhere In Baseball
Angels in the Outfield: Daniel Nava is off to a hot start, at least at the plate. 6 for 10 may not be indicative of his real potential, but it's fun. You know what else is fun? Rafael Ortega. Strong defense AND the potential to be a great OBP platoon guy? Yeah, I'd take that. Maybe the thing to watch in camp is if Billy Eppler struck the winter rainbow with his shillelagh and out fell a pot of golden outfield talent...........
No Jake: Before their arb hearing, Jake Arrieta and the Cubs apparently had a chat or two about a contract extension, but couldn't come to an agreement. Team Arrieta wanted 7 years for the 30-year old, similar to what teams used to give to ace pitchers. Those days are ending, but it never hurts to ask..........
Standing O: Hats off to the Yankees organization, who took a 10-year boy born with severe challenges but a monumental heart and signed him to a 1-day contract, and then sent him out to join his teammates in batting practice..............
Losers Lose: Old dude wants to snag a Mike Trout practice home run, sees a chance to cheat a bunch of kids scrambling for said ball, dashes over and....sneaks away with the wrong ball, essentially stealing some kids personal property. Only now, seeing himself all over the Internet, is he finding out that douchy moves are things douchy people do when the gods of baseball are pointing out to the world that the person is a douche...........
Rainbird Delay: Sprinkler Man and Sprinkler Man's timer ain't gonna be bothered by practice baseball..........
Bliss: Yesterday I linked to the story of Jenrry Mejia's lifetime ban and how his claim that MLB was out to get him all along...AND that the Player's Union failed to have his back. Today I link to the Union Director's response which is, essentially, "Who knew?" Yeah. Seriously. Tony Clark is saying that Mejia should have called or something. I would just like to point out that if your organization exists to serve the needs of your players, it is incumbent upon YOU to be the one doing all the reaching out. You do NOT wait for them to come crawling to you..........
Yo Knows Wheels: How to top a Lamborghini? How about a pedal trike to match his jeep? This dude has all the bases covered, and sure knows how to have a fun camp...........
Hot Glove: I'm not quite sure about this one. Breaking in a new glove is a sacred process that bonds a player to their tool. It is time-honored, with roots going back thousands of years. But, Jeurys Familia wants to skip all that and jump right to microwaving? WTF?...........
Inclusion: MLB is announcing a partnership with National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce to assist LGBT businesses become official MLB suppliers...........
Shills: Remember that whole video game empire that Curt Schilling thought he was building? The one that tanked completely and fraudulently took taxpayer's money with it? Well, even if you don't the Securities and Exchange Committee sure does. They aren't going after Schilling (he doesn't have enough money for them to trouble with). They are going after the institutions that propped up his little fraud...........
Baseball Biz: Let's play catch up. AT&T is buying DirecTV. That deal is going forward and when it does we will see AT&T driving new subscribers to satellite service and away from their Uverse enhanced DSL land line service. Existing Uverse customers will be allowed to remain as is (discloser: I am a deliriously happy Uverse customer). But... AT&T is announcing that at the end of this year they will be offering a package of streaming services, all free of contracts. Wait. What? Streaming content packages WITH NO CONTRACTS? Could it be? Could we have a chance to stream baseball content without an MLB.TV contract? Nope. No such luck. For now we should expect MLB contract ON TOP of Over The Top Streaming..........
