Angels and Tim Lincecum are in final stages of MLB deal that will bring former ace to Anaheim

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Are you guys ready for some Super Freak action in Anaheim? I hope you answered yes, because the Angels are reportedly in the final negotiations for former-Giants ace Tim Lincecum.

The news comes hot on the heels of Lincecums recent workout for about 20+ teams, showing that he has some stuff back in his arsenal and he's ready to rock and roll. After a week or so went by, suitors began dropping out and it was eventually narrowed down to the Chicago White Sox, the San Francisco Giants or our very own Angels.

But word on the street(aka Twitter) right now is that the Cy Young winner now only has one team that's interested in him, and that's the Halos. WHOA. I didn't expect this, and i'm still somewhat shocked. But when MLB writers Jeff Passan and Jon Heyman take to the Twitterverse with this type of bombshell news, they usually aren't messing around. Here's what they're saying right now:

We obviously don't have any dollar figures to judge exactly how this will affect the front office's bottom line, but it's worth noting that, according to Heyman, all deals that have been on the table for The Freak have been for 1 year, so he is able to hit free agency.

As Jessica noted in her piece last week on Lincecum, the guy hasn't really been hot stuff since 2011, but the idea here is that he's finally healthy and free of hip problems and whatever else it was that we could possibly attribute to his decline.

Let's hope for the best out of Tim, and if he can even get within striking distance of his former greatness, we'll all be pleased, i'm sure.
