As the trade window closed to the final 10 minutes, several Angels trades were announced. The first was Hector Santiago going to the Twins, which was a surprise to pretty much everyone.
Ricky Nolasco is a 33-year-old righty with a 5.13 ERA in 2016. Just what we need is more pitching that will be painful, right? Nolasco is signed throughh 2017, so perhaps the Angels really have written off next year? Nolasco has never really been all that good with a career 4.58 ERA and .272 BAA.
26-year-old Alex Meyer was the Twins #18 top prospect. He has a hell of a fastball that hits the upper 90s, and a pretty good slider. He'll also compete with Weaver on who can get all the things on the top shelf since he's listed at 6'9". Meyer has some shoulder issues and shoulder fatigue shut him down for the month of June.
Told #Angels-#Twins trade is cash-neutral. Cash going from MIN to LAA presumably.
