Halos hell: Angels losing streak hits nine games after being dispatched by Indians 5-1

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Cleveland Indians Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Angels 1 Indians 5

If the Angels’ goal is to shatter the Most Losses In A Row record, then they are having unequivocal success at the moment. They lost to the AL Central-leading Indians by the tune of 5-1, which was not only their third loss in a row to Cleveland, but they’ve now lost nine games in a row. Remarkably bad is better than just run-of-the-mill bad, right?

Matt Shoemaker was the Halos hurler, and he didn’t make it out of this one unscathed, but then again, nobody makes it out unscathed these days. The apocalypse has become mundane. The Cobbler finished with 6.0 IP, 12 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 Ks, which is okay for some pitchers on some teams but it’s not enough to end the skid, not with this pitcher and not with this team.

As if giving up five runs was enough to worry about, you had Michael Clevinger, the Indians’ starter, throwing a no-no for a large chunk of the game. You may remember Clevinger from a Turk’s Teeth post a couple months back. Clevinger was traded away from the Angels, by Jerry Dipoto, and we got the powerhouse known as Vinnie Pestano in return. Ha!

The Angels would only be able to burp up one futile run, and they would go down as losers in Ohio once again, with the rain delays mocking them, adding insult to huge losing streak injury. Will they make it double digits tomorrow? I don’t even know what to root for at this point.
