ThorsLinks: Halos win via Mike Trout? Autumn-atic!

Mike Trout slams shut the door of summer in Arlington as he powers the Halos to victory ahead of Rangers clinch.

The best part of watching Mike Trout clobber the Rangers into defeat is not being forced to watch Texas do their playoff dance, essentially on the grave of our Divisional dominance. Something that died back in 2010. I remember that dance. I don't want to watch anybody doing it in our face.

We won't see the Rangers again this year. We can leave those pissy, whiny, asshats in our rear view mirror and concentrate on how much better we are going to be over the next year, and then the one after.

Rangers fans can laugh now, because soon enough they will be wallowing in the billionaire boondoggle being foisted on them, robbing their pockets blind for the sake of their chance to, finally, be competitive. Because everything's bigger in Texas, even public fleecings.

Everywhere In Baseball

Mike Trout, on the road to the inside lane of the inner-most circle of baseball's Hall of Fame...........

Shouldn't this be a "walk-off catch", and everybody gets to run out to the outfield and jump around and dance together? When the offense ends the game on a big hit and gets to act like they won the LCS, why can't the defense do the same thing win they win the battle on a great play?...........

Joey bats still doing his machismo mash. Too bad it only meant taking a little longer to lose.............

Hmm. People getting tired of Madison Bumgarner already?...........

Josh Reddick: on our side concerning bunting............

Adam Jones yearns to be more popular..........

Home Run Fun in Baltimore. Rookie Trey Mancini of the Oriioles mashed his 1st home run of this career, and mom was present in the stands. A warm moment of genuine family fun times..........In the same game, David Ortiz oozed his 540th home run. And he used the moment to put a little shit on an Orioles fan, also present in the stands. More fun for any family nearby, but at least the peacock was genuine...........

The Vin is whispering off into the sunset and getting a boatload of well-earned hagiography as he goes. But I say to you, friends, that if you are younger than the age of 40 you missed out on the acme of his broadcasting skills and the epoch that made him truly a legend............

I would hate to have somebody write about us that we are becoming great again, but that we have wasted the Trout window. Much as is what was just written about the mariner and Felix Hernandez...........

Oooh. Burn. Jeff Samardzija, who also played some pretty good football at Notre Dame, totally roasted Tim Tebow in only 5 words...........

Rookie Adam Plutko was busy in a live wedding - in the actual wedding party, in fact - when he got his long-awaited call-up to the Indians. Graciously, he was ignoring it until his wife urged him to take the call. Now he is in a playoff race. I'm still stuck on the idea that somebody would ignore any chance to get the heck out of Beaumont...........

The Rangers have been super-duper incredibly lucky. Impressively so. Regression will be a bitch. I'll have my popcorn at the ready...........

That Carlos Gomez gambit that the Rangers had the bravado to make is turning out well enough that I don't have to be the one to track it anymore.............

That Terry Francona guy managing the Indians, the guy who was a free agent for a brief time, is quite a manager. Seems to be able to lead young men into the playoffs, too. Just thinking out loud...........

Dave Cameron over at FanGraphs is begging BBWAA voters to be logically consistent. In other words, be intelligent. Personally, I think Cameron has picked a losing battle...........

I went into this article salivating to learn about you-know-who. I came out of it learning that HOW a manager runs his bullpen doesn't end up making that big of a difference. Maybe a game a year. As defenders of Scioscialism are fond of saying, it's not the manager, it's the players...........
