Eric Hinske will be the new Angels hitting coach, rounding out the coaching staff for 2018

Hinske served as assistant hitting coach for the Cubs the previous three years.

The Angels have made their selection of hitting coach, announcing it earlier today.

Hinske came off a 12-year playing career across seven organizations, posting his best year (4.8 fWAR) in 2002 with the Blue Jays. It’s usually difficult to evaluate coaching hires, but it seems the Angels have chosen a strong candidate. Between 2015 and 2017, the Cubs had the highest WAR total of any team among position players and their wRC+ of 101 is tied for 7th during that span.

With the hitting coach position filled, the Angels have their staff filled for the upcoming year.
