No one can say this World Series has not been entertaining. Game 5 left many mouths agape and many people yelling “seriously??” at their televisions. Social media got in on the action as well. Check out reactions from celebrities and around the league here and here. For your viewing pleasure, I also bring you sad Kershaw and sad Puig.
Justin Verlander got in on the fun as well:
Here's a #beforeandafter photo of me from that game. OMG!!!! what a crazy game!!! Took 40ish years off my life. … https://t.co/MXwr1GYMfe pic.twitter.com/n9la2icCSA— Justin Verlander (@JustinVerlander) October 30, 2017
I only hope he can still throw for game 6 after his apparent aging during game 5.
Game 6 is do or die for the Dodgers who are facing an Astros juggernaut determined to take home their first ever World Series trophy. I heard the Dodgers are hoping for a Ken Giles 9 inning appearance.
Here are your Halloween and potentially last-day-of-baseball-for-2017-Links:
A Little Bit of Angels News
The Angels selected 18 year old John Swanda in the 4th round of the MLB draft this year. His short pro career might be taking a bad turn as he is facing up to two years in jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a fake ID. His .182 BAC was almost as high as Luis Valbeuna’s 2017 batting average.
Eagles tight end Zach Ertz wants Mike Trout to play for the Phillies.
Samil De Los Santos made the AFL Stars roster despite giving up 10 ER and 9 walks in 5.2 innings this fall. Fortunately his regular season stats were MUCH better.
More World Series Stuff
Despite the continued barrage of dingerz in the World Series, Manfred still insists the balls are not doctored and he said “I think making a judgment based on seeing home runs in a single game just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.” Apparently Manfred failed to watch the entire rest of the 2017 season...
Sunday nights World Series game was so long, they actually ran out of commercials. At 5 hours and 17 minutes, it was the second longest baseball game in World Series history with the 2nd highest total runs scored.
Some dude actually ran around the field before being tackled by about 5 security guys.
Oops! KTTV in Los Angels actually ran a promo that said the Dodgers won.
FiveThirtyEight takes a look at how the 2017 World Series is already one of the best ever.
CJ Wilson is promoted a World Series drinking game.
Football? Nah. MLB pounded on the NFL in the Sunday night ratings game.
Everywhere In Baseball
Being a “good” manager in baseball is apparently not “good” enough. The Braves broke drafting and signing rules, but their President is off the hook. I guess it pays to have a “disengaged” management style. At least one big league club has shown interest in South Korean outfielder Son A-seop. Could it have been Billy Eppler? Speaking of outfielders, the Mets released Nori Aoki.
The Duffle Bag
What would you do if you caught a home runs ball, then someone stole it and threw it back? Corey Feldman claims a Dodgers employee ran a “child’s club” back in the 80s. The Kia Tigers won the South Korean baseball title and the Japan Series is also currently taking place. Twins fans apparently hate Bug Selig. Hunter Pence takes a knee.
The Lake Elsinore Storm turned their stadium into a haunted stadium for Halloween..
SDSU baseball team played a game in Halloween costumes. Who knew Facebook could play shortstop? He really needs to work on his slide though...
