Folks, we won’t have to wait any longer for the first news of the offseason. Justin Upton will be in Halo red next season!
He had an opt-out, but he restructured his deal so that it will be 5 years, $106 million.
Justin Upton’s deal with the Angels worth $106 million.

However, Upton did originally have an option year on top of the original contract. So the following analysis holds true:
All the Angels really did is buy out Justin Upton's opt-out for $18M by locking in the final option year. Hardly earth-shattering. #MLB

This contract comes with a full no-trade clause.
Regardless, this is a very solid contract “extension,” one that Billy Eppler was possibly imagining when he traded for Upton in the first place. Now, it’s not a stretch to say that the Angels outfield of Upton, Kole Calhoun, and Mike Trout is the best outfield in baseball.
Time to dance!
