The Angels have just added $1 million in international pool space, just as the Mariners did just prior.
Ken Rosenthal had the scoop:
Source: #Angels acquire international slot money from #Twins for OF Jacob Pearson, who received a $1M signing bonus as a third-round pick in 2017. Clearly adding money for Ohtani, just as #Mariners also did tonight.

The amount they received was not insignificant.

The Mariners can still offer Ohtani more than the Angels by approximately $200,000. Texas can offer the most of any remaining team at $3.5 million.
To simplify the trade:
Angels get: $1M in international bonus pool space
Twins get: OF Jacob Pearson
The kicker here is who went to Minnesota: the Angels’ 3rd round pick from just last year. However, as Taylor Blake Ward noted on Twitter, Pearson became expendable due to the Angels’ relative wealth of riches, with Jahmai Jones, Jo Adell, Brandon Marsh, Michael Hermosillo, Brennon Lund, and Troy Montgomery in the pipeline, among others.
Pearson slashed .226/.302/.284 across the AZL in 2017. MLB Pipeline ranked him the 5th best Angels prospect.
The Angels have acquired more international pool space ($1M, according to @Ken_Rosenthal) from the Twins for OF Jacob Pearson, one of their top prospects. Angels now can spend $2.315M for Ohtani. Seattle also got $1M in trade with Twins. They are up to $2.55M. Rangers still $3.5M
