Orem Owls, DSL and ARZ Angels won’t start playing until June.
Note: I won't be showing the "duds" for the rookie leagues unless they are top prospects or top draft picks. A lot of the guys in the rookie leagues are young and adjusting to pro ball. Many of them never make it past rookie ball, and even the truly gifted ones can have bad weeks, months, etc.
Also, it’s only been one week, so hard to see what these guys are gonna do yet this year, but remember this feature is mainly based on players last 7-10 days worth of games.

Burlington Bees
Burlington, Iowa
Level = A, Midwest League
Studs:
Jordan Zimmerman (2B, 22), Has started off the season by hitting .381 with a .435 OBP in 6 games. Zimmerman also has a triple and a homerun.
Jeyson Sanchez (C, 22), Sanchez, who played last year for the AZL Angels is 6 for 17 with a .421 OBP in his 17 at bats.
Duds:
Roberto Baldoquin (SS, 22), Baldoquin was demoted to A ball after a rough year with the 66ers. So far he’s not faring well there either, with only 1 hit in his 8 AB, along with 3Ks. Not a lot of at bats yet, so we’ll see how he works out in Burlington.
Sam Pastrone (RHP, 19), Pastrone’s only start didn’t end well and he gave up 7 hits and 2 walks along with 4 earned runs in just 4 innings of work.
Brennon Lund (OF, 22), is hitting just .158 in 19 AB. He is 2 for 2 in stolen bases.
Others:
Jahmai Jones (OF, 19), is only batting .200 in 25 at bats so far. Also has 2 stolen bases in 3 attempts.
Joe Gatto (RHP, 21), had a rough year in 2016 with Burlington but started off 2017 on the right foot with a 5 inning start where he allowed just 1 run and 4 hits.
Troy Montgomery (OF, 22), has only 12 AB and also only 2 hits. Like Lund, he is 2 for 2 in stolen base attempts. He doesn’t have a lot of hits, but his OBP is .444 thanks to his 6 walks in 18 plate appearances.

San Bernardino, CA
Level = A+, California League
Studs:
Adam Hofacket (RHP, 23), has shown up in 2 games and pitched 4.1 scoreless innings with 4Ks and only 1 walk.
Sam Holland (RHP, 23), pitched twice so far and hasn’t allowed a run or walk in 3.1 innings while striking out 5.
Jaime Barria (RHP, 20), is the youngest on the team and below the league average by 3 years. He’s been a stud in his two starts with 10Ks and zero runs allowed in 10 IP.
Michael Hermosillo (OF, 22), off to a good start with a .457 OBP and .367 AVG through 7 games.
Duds:
Grayson Long (RHP, 22), the start of the season hasn’t been kind to him and he’s given up 3 runs in back to back starts of 3 and 4 innings. He’s also given up 12 hits and 3 walks in those 7 innings.
Others:
Matt Thaiss (1B, 21), is only batting .200 so far with a .315 OBP. He has a homerun and 6Ks in his 30 AB.
Connor Justus (SS, 22), 5th round pick Justus is only 4 for 25 in the early going with a .276 OBP.

Mobile BayBears
Mobile, Alabama
Level = AA, Southern League
Studs:
Luis Diaz (RHP, 25), Diaz has been around in the minors since 2009. He made an impressive debut in Mobile with 6 shutout innings while allowing only 2 hits and striking out 8.
Eduardo Paredes (RHP, 22), Paredes is on the 40-man roster. He’s pitched twice so far this year with 3.2 scoreless innings.
Luis Tejada (1B, 24), became a free agents last off-season and is raking in the early going with a .500 AVG, 1 HR, and only 1K in 16 AB.
Duds:
Hutton Moyer (2B, 23), is having a rough start, batting only .056 in 5 games with 5 Ks.
Others:
David Fletcher (SS, 22), Fletcher tore it up in Tempe but is only hitting .235 so far in Mobile. He also has a .435 OBP and 3 SB in 4 attempts.

Level = AAA, Pacific Coast League
Studs:
Deolis Guerra (RHP, 27), has been lockdown in his two appearances with 0 walks, 0 runs, and 6Ks in 3.2 IP with just 2 hits allowed.
Brooks Pounders (RHP, 26), hasn’t allowed a hit or run in 5 IP, but walked one in each appearance.
Kaleb Cowart (3B, 24), already has 2 homeruns and is hitting .310/.394/.552 in his first 7 games. He also has 3 stolen bases.
Nolan Fontana (SS, 25), has a .500 OBP and .368 AVG in 19 AB (24 plate appearances).
Shane Robinson (OF, 32), getting old for a minor leaguer, but took his hot spring into the season and has a .455 OBP with only 1 K in 19 AB.
Duds:
Keynan Middleton (RHP, 23), I really hate putting him in the duds, but he’s allowed 2ER in each of his 2 appearances. He has stuck out just 1 and allowed 6 hits in those 3.1 IP.
Cody Ege (LHP, 25), 3 appearances, 6ER, and 7 hits in his 4.1 innings is a rough start to the year.
Daniel Wright (RHP, 26), was just called up to the Angels, but before that had one start in which he gave up 9 ER and 9 hits in 3.1 IP.
Tony Sanchez (C, 28), is just 1 for 14 with 8Ks in 4 games.
Others:
Manny Banuelos (LHP. 26), has been okay so far, allowing 3 runs in 10.2 innings, but has also walked 6 in those 2 starts.
Alex Meyer (RHP, 27), a strikeout machine with 13Ks in 10 IP, but also 5 runs, 4 walks and 11 hits.
Sherman Johnson (2B, 26), poor Sherman has just a .105 AVG so far this year with 5Ks in 19AB, but he does have 6 walks (.320 OBP) and 2 stolen bases at least.
