Angels Week 3 Rankings - Pitchers

New, 4 comments

The good, the bad, and the meh - Moves? We got them.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Houston Astros Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

If you read my articles last year, each week I wrote a summary of the best and and well, the not so good performances of the week. This year I’m changing the format a bit. I’ll cover the entire 40 man roster and will split it between position players and pitchers (generally 20 or so guys on each list). Each week the list will change based on the past week’s performance - but also taking into account their performance year to date.

Summary

The pitching performances over the last week had a lot going for them, but the pitching staff as a whole? Not so much. Garrett Richards was transferred to the 60 day DL and Cam Bedrosian was placed on the 10 day DL. As you can see below, the DL list is growing and the Angels made 9 pitching related transactions.

Angels starters over the last week didn’t give up more than 3 runs in ANY of their starts and were all (mostly) pretty damn impressive. The bullpen? Not so much. The bullpen collectively gave up 16 runs and 7 homers in 23 innings for a 6.26 ERA.

These rankings were compiled with the help of MLB stats, FanGraphs, misc. data, personal opinion, scribblings on Cam Bedrosian’s Five Guys wrappers, and some fairy dust I found hidden in Matt Shoemaker’s beard.

Not on this list:

Andrew Bailey, 10 day DL
Vicente Campos, 10 day DL
Huston Street, 60 day DL
Andrew Heaney, 60 day DL
Garrett Richards, 60 day DL
Nate Smith, DL
