Thor'sLinks: Ricky done lost that thunder

Nolasco gave up seven hits. Three of them were devastating. Wins might not be a good metric, but they fuel self-satisfaction. And Nolasco hasn't had a W since Late April and the Halos haven't W'ed in any of those starts, either.

This brief happy moment brought to you by Destined To Lose.

You are seeing a whole new Links today. Are you not excited?? Imagine me. I write these things and will probably be the last of us to wake up and get online and see how it looks. In truth, I am still using the old editor and I am not supposed to be. Any day now they will shut down this old editor and I will have to start all over and things will look like funk until I figure out how hack it. And then it will look like it belongs in this brave newer world.

Whatevs. Let's move on. The Halos lost yesterday. Nolasco did his Nolasco thing. His 16 home runs yielded ranks second only to Houston's Mike Fiers and 17.

So go do some New Look Links:

A Little Bit of Angels News

Alex Meter is headed off to the 10-day DL for back issues..........David Wright will fill in for his spot today............

Who's this "ANA" MLB team with the 13th most-difficult schedule?...........

Without actually listening to the answer to the question given to Mike Scioscia, what happens to Maybin in the leadoff spot when Escobar comes back? I'd wouldn't be surprised to see Maybin moved to 9th and Sosh calling it his "first leadoff" spot............

Josh Mayhood's Library of Mike Trout Hagiography

Mike Trout is awesome. The rest of the Angels are merely mortal. That difference is so large that it scribes cannot help but notice. Poor Mike, playing with humans..........Mike is off the charts right now. Not even FanGraphs can understand how to get him back onto their graphs............Trout talks hitting, gets interrupted by Albert Pujols..........Mike talks about his time on MLB Draft night, 2009............Mike Trout, WARP Machine. Soon to be King of WARP, actually..........Note Trout's OBP and SLG at the moment. Nobody has finished a season with an SLG of .7xx or higher since Barry Bonds in 2004. And except for the years of Juicy Fruit Bonds, this would be the highest SLG since Babe Ruth in 1927. That super high OBP, meh. We haven't seen that since last year when Mike Trout did it............

Trout Porn Stat of the Day. Don't pitch him low. Although it might also be read as just pitch Mike up and turn him into Shane Victorino..........

Everywhere In Baseball

The nice takeaway from this Yankees study is how it doesn't require tanking in order to restore success in the standings. They caught some breaks for sure, but those breaks are not what overcame several years of AAAA roster rollover in order to stock up on draft choices..........

So what some guys got little more than a cup of coffee in the Majors? That's a hell of a lot more than 99.999% of us even came close to getting...........

Rob Manfred really wants to land a team in Mexico City. Are we are running short of large domestic cities to use as stadium leverage?.............

My brain still reels at what is going on in Denver.........Denver AND Arizona, actually............

The Dodgers have Clayton Kershaw but the Cards have just as good with everybody else. And I keep reading these stories and keep wondering what might have been...........

Jered Weaver is getting a lot more attention in San Diego than he got in Anaheim since, what, 2014?............

Trout isn't on this study of varying walk rates. Walks are cool. but base hits, doubles and home runs are coolererest. So if this one article happens to overlook him, I shall forgive...........

Oh brother. Who needs a Derek Jeter to slobber over when you got a new guy to slobber over by calling him a Derek Jeter?............

Jason Heyward has now moved all the way out to yoga field. I had no idea that it was well understood yoga instructors can hit the curveball..........

The Duffle Bag

Willie Stargell's kids are pissed that their step-mom didn't call them up and give them his stuff..........Rougned Odor ain't worth all that attitude.....ain't even close...........In case you missed it Monday night, Hunter Wendelstedt instant replayed his own self..............Bobby Gritch is not in the Baseball Hall of Fame. This time next week Homer Simpson will be............For a guy who claims to love defensive footwork, Joe Maddon sure has a shitty defense............

Jordan Serena Destiny Watch

The Inland Empire 66'ers defeated Lake Elsinore last night 4-2. This should not come as a surprise, since Jordan Serena returned to the lineup and went 1 for 4. Just his presence is intimidating enough to shut down opposing batters. It was LF. The dude gets around the playing surface. Ultra-utility. I wonder if he is ambidextrous, too?.........

Tebow has a baseball card. Ima gonna make one for J-Ser.............
