Mike Trout has been placed on the Disabled List, reports J.P. Hoornstra (who?) of the Southern California News Group.
Trout has a torn ligament in his left thumb. Minimum couple weeks absence, more if he has surgery. That will be determined tonight.

There has been speculation that it appears that surgery is inevitable, even if the Angels are not reporting it as such. At the very minimum, it appears as if he will be out for several weeks. As Angels fans, we can only hope for the best.
To replace Trout, the Angels have called up Eric Young Jr. from Triple-A. He will start tonight in the outfield and bat ninth. Tyler Skaggs was transferred to the 60-day DL.
Update: Trout is going to have surgery, out 6-8 weeks.
