I’ll cover the entire 40 man roster and will split it between position players and pitchers (generally 20 or so guys on each list). Each week the list will change based on the past week’s performance - but also taking into account their performance year to date.
Summary
So I go on vacation and everything falls apart?? I’m back from gallivanting around the East Coast on my stadium tour and didn’t get to watch a single game of Angels baseball until last night. Now that I’m back, these reports will start coming on Monday again next week.
Welp. The Angels had a rough weak losing to teams they shouldn’t have, then lost Mike Trout on Sunday to a thumb injury. is this bad? Yeah probably. The Angles have depth but they are an incredibly lopsided team. The rest of the Angel are hitting a cumulative .226 with a .298 OBP.
The Angels offense only scored 21 runs last week WITH Mike Trout and he scored 5 of those, including 2 solo homers. Also, despite Trout hitting .300 with a .440 OBP last week, the team as a whole only batted .200 (worst in the league) with a .300 OBP.
Who will land in the top spot next week? And for that matter - the next 6-8 weeks??
These rankings were compiled with the help of MLB stats, FanGraphs, misc. data, personal opinion, scribblings on Cam Bedrosian’s Five Guys wrappers, and some fairy dust I found hidden in Matt Shoemaker’s beard.
Not on this list:
Yunel Escobar, 10 day DL
Changes:
5/22 C.J. Cron sent to minors
5/22 Nolan Fontana called up from minors
* Player is not on the active 25-man roster
