Angels Week 5 Rankings - Position Players

The good, the bad, and the meh - now with 50% less Mike Trout

MLB: Houston Astros at Los Angeles Angels Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

I’ll cover the entire 40 man roster and will split it between position players and pitchers (generally 20 or so guys on each list). Each week the list will change based on the past week’s performance - but also taking into account their performance year to date.

Summary

Mike Trout sat out a game with a tight hamstring then he played, then he sat out two more. Hopefully his issues won’t linger and he’ll be back in the lineup soon. Even with Trout missing 3 games, the Angels offense hit 7 homeruns (1 of them from Trout), and stole 4 bases in 5 attempts. The offense scored 27 runs in 6 games - compared to 28 runs in 7 games the week prior.

These rankings were compiled with the help of MLB stats, FanGraphs, misc. data, personal opinion, scribblings on Cam Bedrosian’s Five Guys wrappers, and some fairy dust I found hidden in Matt Shoemaker’s beard.
