MondoLinks: Halos got the blues.

They lose 7-2 on Father's Day wearing baby blue. They lose the series 3 games to 1 against the Royal blues. And now jet off to face the dark blue pinstripes of New York.

A pretty crappy series over the weekend against the Royals, capped by a frustrating 7-2 loss on Baby Blue Father's Day. I spent the day in Ocean Beach and didn't see anywhere near as much LOBster as the Halos did. Pujols left 5. Espinosa left 5. Escobar, Simmons, Maldonado and Graterol each left a pair.

A Little Bit of Angels News

The biggest news over the weekend was sending "day-to-day with a sore arm that we have seen before" Matt Shoemaker off to the 10-day DL. The 10-Day DL is not the big thing it used to be, so let's not panic yet. It's going to be Parker Bridwell making his second career start in New York. But keep a weather eye out. Doug Fister has shined in Salt Lake and needs to be called up by 6/21 or he can opt out and become a Free Agent again, now proven. Fister himself pitched last on 6/16 so Tuesday would be too early. But that doesn't mean we can't have some other rotation movement very soon..........As the first link, notes, that puts ALL of the pre-season LA starters on the DL at the same time along, of course, with their Closer............

But hey, we got the new Closer back! Cam Bedrosian has made it back from the DL. And he is happy with his fastball velocity...........

And so the Angels are off to New York for 3, then to Boston for 3, before coming home to LA to face the Dodgers in Dodger Stadium for a pair. They won't be back in Anaheim until the 28th, and their first game is tomorrow (Tuesday).............Mike Trout will be a part of this road trip, with the chance to start winging a bat again after surgery...........And of course, if Mike Trout is flying again, Mike Trout is tweeting again...........

The media is catching on to this whole thing about the Danny Espinoza failure...........

I never paid attention to this, but JC Ramirez has this odd habit of taking too long with his bullpen warmups in Anaheim and is late to his home starts?...........Seems kind of odd for a guy who lasted 2 glorious innings, got blown up in the 3rd and failing to record an out in the 4th. But, yeah, after 84 pitches, he was done. How many pitches did he throw in the pen warming up?.........

An interview with Albert Pujols. Proud to be representing the DR..........

The Angels were pretty busy yesterday with pens and paper. It was a draftee signing rash............

Father's Day tributes: Yangervis Solarte of the Padres.........and our own Eric Young, Jr...........

Dear MLB, if you truly are worried about connecting with future generations of fans, and you truly do believe that new media outlets for content delivery are an important part of the solution, you might want to insist that your provider partners not be utterly clueless..........

The Houston Astros may burn some franchise depth to repair their rotation. And the Oakland A's may burn some of whatever is left of their rotation, in order to reclaim some franchise depth. And it's all about Sonny Gray..........

It's troll time. The Rockies trolled Jeff Samardzija..........The Charleston Riverdogs trolled Tim Tebow..........The Oakland A's trolled the Yankees, letting some of the air out of the MFY hype machine..........And some random boyfriend trolled his soon-to-be girlfriend, hard.........

Paul Goldschmidt is the offensive beast we should be watching while Mike Trout is sidelined..........

Long form: primer on Pitch Tunneling..........

College World Series underway. In Bracket 1, Oregon State came from way back to defeat Cal State Fullerton. Oregon State now faces LSU tonight (which won in an epic game of their own) while CSUF is in an elimination game against Florida State today. In Bracket 2, Louisville and Florida both won and face off tomorrow while Texas A&M and TCU duel to sudden death in their elimination game in the early game...........
