HumpLinks: Winning would be fun

New, 53 comments

The Angels have spent the holiday weekend losing. Maybe they are choosing to fly back under the radar? So that they can lower expectations, spot the AL a huge lead into the playoffs, then sneak up on everyone a the end? Maybe??

The Angels lost again yesterday 5-4 with a comeback falling short. This must be their plan. They were starting to get too much notice for how well they had upgraded their game with Mike Trout on the DL. Can't have that. Gotta start losing again. Gotta get back under the radar. Wait until September to make their move. Right?

I live in Santa Ana, and last night is the night when I think  of how many thousands and thousands of people cram themselves into the Main Street area to witness the 15 minutes of Disneyland fireworks, when I can stand out in the street in front of my house without any crowd at all, and watch those same fireworks come to me. From every directions. It's like The Battle of Shiloh.

More of the Lost Weeks Links, shotgun-style again:

Just Doing It All

Alex Meyer has been sent back to Salt Lake for more seasoning. No. Actually, Meyer has made his last start before the All-Star break anyway, and this lets Mike Scioscia have access to more bullpen depth in the games remaining................

Live update from Mike Trout's IE 66ers workout in San Bernardino yesterday.............

Logan Morrison is a bit salty over the MLB invite to Gary Sanchez to the HR Derby. But the best quotes are about how MLB screws up everything else. "I'm not disappointed. It's par for the course. I play for the Rays. I get it. They can't even get my picture right. When they put my name up there they put Corey (Dickerson's) picture up there ... on MLB Network. When they put up the home run leaders they put Corey's swing on there not mine."..........

But that Derby might be fun to watch this year, anyway............

This would be a bummer. The Revolution of superstar second basemen ends right when we need to go out and get one of those for ourselves? So we are stuck with Danny Espinosa?............

Ouch. The Phillies, Padresa nd Giants are sucking so hard that Bovada has taken them off the betting boards already.  Half way through the season, and the door is shut. The Halos are 80 to 1 to win the Word Series, for those interested in such things............

Raise your hand if you remember voting for All Stars with paper ballots. Those were pretty shitty times, actually. Count your blessings, as some of this year's All-Stars need to do as well............

But, meanwhile, "... the MLB allows fans to wield far more power than they can handle."..........

I sure hope Terry Francona's health settles, and for the better. Because his ongoing issues are sure mysterious...........

Huh. Maybe Baseball has a problem after all. The average age of a viewer for Baseball is the oldest of all major pro sports, at 57-years of age. And only 7% of the viewers are under the age of 18. Man, I recall growing up as a kid and watching the This Week In Baseball on Saturday mornings. And watching weekend baseball. And rolling TV's into elementary school classrooms for the World Series. But the, we did not have video games..........

Yep. Baseball has not only an age issue, but a diversity issue, too. As an old white guy, I don't know if I am supposed to be the first to keep pushing this issue into everybody's nose, or the last...........

Jordan Serena Destiny Watch

Jordan Serena is MIA again. Still on the 66ers roster, but not in the lineup. The IE 66ers totally rolled Stockton yesterday, winning 7-1. It helps to have Matt Shoemaker on the mound acing a rehab start..............
