The good, the bad, and the meh - Bullpen studs (mostly)

I’ll cover the entire 40 man roster and will split it between position players and pitchers (generally 20 or so guys on each list). Each week the list will change based on the past week’s performance - but also taking into account their performance year to date.

Summary

The good news is that the Angels bullpen only gave up 1 home run last week. The bad news? Starters gave up 9 long balls in just 37.3 innings. The starting staff had a 5.30 ERA and that is WITH both of Bridwell’s solid starts. You take Bridwell out at the remaining starters put up a 5.94 ERA. It’s no wonder the Angels are good at come from behind victories this year since they have a lot of chances when you get behind like that early in the game.

Outside of Paredes and Bedrosian, the bullpen was solid. Without those two guys, relievers had a 0.43 ERA in 21.1 innings last week. Including Bedrosian and Paredes bumped that up to 2.49.

Not on this list:

Matt Shoemaker, 10 day DLL
Nick Tropeano, 60 day DL
Garrett Richards, 60 day DL
Vicente Campos, DL
Huston Street, 10 day DL
Alex Meyer, 10 day DL
Nate Smith, unknown

Changes:

8/21 Andrew Bailey placed on 10-Day DL
8/21 J.C. Ramirez placed on 10 Day DL
8/24 Troy Scribner called up from Minors
8/24 Eduardo Paredes sent to Minors
8/25 Matt Shoemaker transferred to 60 day DL
