Los Angeles Angels release 2018 schedule

It’s like Christmas in September

Every September, before the current season winds down, MLB releases the schedule for the following year. It’s a good way to get a head start on your road trips, stadium visits, or just which visiting teams you want to watch at the Big A.

Today the 2018 schedule came out and we’ll take a quick look at it how it shapes up for the Angels.

MLB Opening Series
The Angels will start up in Oakland for a 4 game set with a 1:05 PM start time on Thursday March 29th.

Angels Home Opener Series
On Monday, April 2nd, the Cleveland Indians roll into town for a 3 game set that will lead to the Angels first day off in 2018 on April 5th.

Schedule Notables in April:
The San Francisco Giants are in town for the first time since 2012. This happens April 20-22

March/April Games: 29
March/April Days Off: 4

Schedule Notables in May:
First extended road trip as the Angels play 10 games in Toronto, NY, and Detroit.
Angels play 2 games against the Rockies, who they haven’t faced since 2015.

May Games: 29
May Days Off: 2

Schedule Notables in June:
Angels play 2 games against the Diamondbacks, who they haven’t faced since 2015.

June Games: 27
June Days Off: 3

Schedule Notables in July:
Angels play a split freeway series with 3 games against the Dodgers followed by the Mariners and home, then 3 more against the Dodgers in LA before the All Star Break
All-Start week is July 16th with the big game on July 17th.

July Games: 24
July Days Off: 7

Schedule Notables in August:
Angels play a 3 game set at Petco Park for the first time since 2012.
Angels play 2 more games against the Diamondbacks, who they haven’t faced since 2015.
Angels play 2 more games against the Rockies, who they haven’t faced since 2015.

August Games: 27
August Days Off: 4

Schedule Notables in September:
Angels play 24 of their 27 games against AL West opponents.
Season ends with 6 games at home against the Rangers with a day off before finishing with the Athletics for 3 games

September Games: 27
September Days Off: 3

Other notes:

Unlike 2017, the Angels don’t spend the beginning of the season mainly playing AL West teams. In April alone they have AL West, AL Central, AL East, and NL West.

Longest streak of playing games = 16. This runs from May 22nd to June 6th.
