The World Series is over - which means the real off season fun can finally begin. Here are some upcoming key dates and how the Angels are affected.
Oct 29th - Teams can talk to their 2018 player who are now free agents have exclusive rights to try and negotiate with them for a re-signing. Angels free agents that are potentially affected this include:
- Garrett Richards
- Jim Johnson
- Chris Young
- Blake Wood
- Eric Young Jr.
- Junichi Tazawa
- Ben Revere
Oct 31st - Decision deadline for players with opt-out clauses. The Angels don’t have any of those.
Nov 3rd - Qualifying offer deadline for free agents. This is set at 17.9 million this year and we won’t see this with anyone on the Angels. Players have 10 days to accept or decline.
Nov 6-8th - Not nearly as exciting as the Winter Meetings, but the General Managers’ meetings are in Carlsbad, CA (just a short drive from many of us).
Nov 20th - Deadline to set the 40 man roster before the Rule 5 Draft. This will have some implications for the Angels and we’ll have more to report on this as the day gets closer.
Nov 30th - Deadline to tender contracts for arbitration eligible players. Teams either make a deal or cut them lose. Projections are here. Angels players affected:
