Going into the 2017-2018 off season, the Angels had an obvious need at third base. Ultimately, the Angels third base spot went to Zack Cozart, the former All Star shortstop from the Cincinnati Reds.
Cozart hit .245 over his first 5 big league seasons, but revamped his swing and went on to hit a career best .297. Since 2015, Cozart has hit .271 over nearly 100 plate appearances.
In 2017, will Cozart hit over or under .2695?
Why He Will: Cozart has extremely quick hands and shortened his path to the ball. He’s also cut down on swinging at non-strikes and the Big A could play well for doubles. Playing third base shouldn’t be as taxing on his body as covering short stop.
Why He Won’t: Home runs are hits and Cozart is moving from a home run paradise to a pitcher friendly ballpark. He’s 32 and likely due for some regression. He’ll be facing a ton of new pitchers.
