I’ll cover the entire 40 man roster and will split it between position players and pitchers (generally 20 or so guys on each list). Each week the list will change based on the past week’s performance - but also taking into account their performance year to date.
These rankings were compiled with the help of MLB stats, FanGraphs, misc. data, personal opinion, scribblings on Cam Bedrosian’s Five Guys wrappers, and some fairy dust I found hidden in Matt Shoemaker’s beard.
Summary
Doing these rankings is always tough when the team has a week like they did. Shohei Ohtani didn’t even pitch but it also didn’t feel right bumping him from the top spot, so there was no movement among the top 3. Keynan Middleton continues to rise and most of the staff looked pretty solid.
As a team, the Angels had the best ERA in baseball last week at 2.17. They were 6-0 with 3 saves in 3 attempts. Starters had a 2.03 ERA but struggled to go long with just 31 innings in 6 games for an average start of 5 1⁄3 innings. Thankfully, the bullpen who threw the 3rd most innings in the league last week, held down the back end with a 2.35 ERA (2nd best behind the Blue Jays)
