Angels Acquire Akeel Morris, DFA Troy Scribner

Here’s the link from MLBTR. Billy Eppler has claimed Akeel Morris from the Braves and placed Troy Scribner on waivers.

Scribner was claimed from the Astros and put up some fairly impressive minor league numbers despite not having overpowering stuff. Nonetheless he looked to be another Eppler waiver claim that turned into something useful.

Now the Angels will hope Morris will go from waiver claim to useful MLB piece. A former top prospect with the Mets, he has better peripherals in the upper levels of the minors but very limited MLB experience. He is in his last option year so he can ride the Salt Lake shuttle for 2018.

Now the Angels will wait to see if Scribner is picked up by another organization or clears waivers and makes his way back to Salt Lake.
