Unsung heroes have genuine fun as Angels rout Rangers

The bottom part of the order came through for the Angels tonight.

Angels 8, Rangers 1

It was fun and games Wednesday night at the Big A. With Victor Rojas gone for a second straight night, Terry Smith got the coveted role of TV announcer and seemed to have fun with it, coining a term for the ages.

Francisco Arcia homered twice and Jose Miguel Fernandez added one of his own, leading to a situation where the Angels scored six in the first three innings and were never seriously threatened. In the second, Arcia also doubled in another two. And in the third inning, after the Angels quickly piled on two outs, the next four batters hit for the cycle, cashing in four.

Mike Trout is cool. He went oh-fer and still did this.

Meanwhile, Williams Jerez continued an impressive campaign, allowing a solo shot to Joey Gallo that ended the Rangers’ scoreless streak.

Felix Pena pitched well again, going six solid scoreless.

But hey! We’re not eliminated from the playoffs yet! We live to fight another day.
