Is Mike Scioscia here to stay?

Rumors of him leaving are “poppycock”

The saga continues.

Back on August 5th, Ken Rosenthal reported that Mike Scioscia was going to step down after this season. The 19 year Angels manager quickly denied that report.

Poppycock had entered MLB vernacular and the guessing game was on.

Yesterday, Terry Smith of KLAA asked Scioscia if he wanted to keep managed. The answer? Yes. Not only that, apparently he wants to keep managing the Angels. I mean, who wouldn’t with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani on the team, but do we really need a manager who will keep batting Albert Pujols in the cleanup spot?

Scioscia has a World Series ring with the Angels - 16 years ago and a .538 winning percentage as the Angels manger. The Angels haven’t had a winning season since their mediocre 2015 and over the past 3 seasons, Scioscia has managed them to a .478 winning percentage.

In their last playoff appearance, the Angels were swept out by the Royals in 3 games back in 2014. Mike Scioscia has 7 playoff wins in their last 29 post season games since winning the World Series (a .241 winning percentage).

It’s time for Scioscia to ride off into the sunset. Let’s hope Arte Moreno and Billy Eppler see it that way.
