Matt Shoemaker’s long awaited return did not disappoint. Aside from a 20 pitch 1st inning, Shoemaker threw no more than 13 pitches in every other inning. He allowed only 2 hits, walked one, and struck out 3. Shoey indeed was looking good. His wife agrees:
Praise the Lord. I do not have the words to express the thankfulness and joy I have in seeing my husband healthy and back on that mound. He has endless perseverance and no one works harder than him. I am so proud to be your wife @MattShoe52 #Angels #gohalos

The rookies saved the night here with David Fletcher, Jose Miguel Fernandez, and Taylor Ward logging 4 of the Angels 7 hits. Among those important ones was Fernandez leading off the 7th with a single, followed two batters later by Taylor Ward who notched his 3rd home run of the year. The Angels sent their entire 9 man lineup to plate that inning and David Fletcher also logged an RBI single to put the Angels up 3-0.

That 7th inning turned out to be pretty long with the Rangers sending 7 hitters of their own to the plate, and scoring one. 16 batters and 5 pitchers later, and the 7th inning was finally complete.
Mark this one down for the good guys!
