Pitchers and catchers will report to the Angels spring training complex in Tempe, AZ in less than three weeks. When they get there, they’ll need plenty of bats, baseballs, and chewing gum. The team will pack all of those and more into trucks on Saturday and throw a temporary going away party that is open to the public from 10 am to 2 pm.
The event will take place under the big hats in front of the Big A, with a Yard Sale taking place in the plaza area on the first base side.
I reached out to the Angels promotions department to get more details on the festivities, and here’s what you can expect:
Autographs: current and former Angels players will be on hand to sign autographs and meet with fans. The team will distribute photo cards while supplies last but if you want any other item signed you will need to bring it or possibly buy it from the team store or yard sale.
The players available are not set in stone, but plenty of current and past favorites live in or near OC. There will be three tables set up with a player at each table. The official release says each player will sign 150 autographs, so if signatures are your goal, get there early.
Yard Sale: A selection of game used items, autographed memorabilia, promotional items, and stadium banners will be for sale. Proceeds from the Yard Sale benefit the Angels Baseball Foundation, which does great work in the community.
Team Store: the team store will be open.
Ticket Plans: representatives will be on hand to sell season and partial season ticket plans.
Miscellaneous: No concessions will be sold, so bring your own water and a snack. Sponsors are encouraged to give out free samples, but Yakults aren’t big enough to be considered lunch. Parking will be free.

I plan on stopping by the party for an hour or so. If you see me, please say hello. Are any of you planning on attending?
