The Arizona Fall League is a showcase of the best prospects in baseball. Each team is allowed to send six promising youngsters to the desert and half of the Angels contingent has performed well enough to be selected to the league’s All Star Game.

Top Angels prospect Jo Adell got off to a slow start but then caught fire in the AFL. So far he’s put up a slash line of .293/.369/.500 with 2 home runs in 13 games played. A consensus top 5 prospect in the game, Adell’s good showing against the best prospects in baseball is yet another reason for Angels fans to be excited about this young man.

Brandon Marsh is another high profile Angels prospect and his slash line of .345/.429/.414 earned him an All Star nod in the AFL. Marsh gets overshadowed by Adell at times but his smooth defense and solid OBP skills point to a player who could have a very nice career at the Major League level.

Issac Mattson is a name not many will recognize, but the reliever from Pittsburgh has moved all the way up to AAA since being selected in the 19th round of the 2017 draft. He’s racked up 242 strikeouts in 199 professional innings with a WHIP that sits at 1.13. In the AFL he’s managed to add another 8 strikeouts in 5 2/3rds innings while allowing a single run.

The AFL All Star game is Saturday at 5 PM and can be seen on both MLB.com and Topps.com
