Angels sign starter Julio Teheran, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan

The righty comes to the American League for the first time.

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Kansas City Royals Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Passan of ESPN reported Wednesday that the Angels have agreed to a one-year deal with Julio Teheran, formerly with the Atlanta Braves.

It’s hard to believe that Teheran is only entering his age-29 season. He seems to have been around the league forever. Teheran has pitched in parts of nine seasons with the Atlanta Braves, compiling a 3.67 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. His best quality is his durability:

His worst? Walk rate. Teheran has walked 4.3 batters per nine innings in each of the last two seasons.

Update: According to Fabian Ardaya of the Athletic, the deal is not yet done.

Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports that the deal is $9 million.
