Everybody has reported. Sightings are everywhere. Full workouts today. And first game this Saturday. Welcome back, baseball!

Full squad workouts start today...........But guess who we already have in the batting cage............And this Saturday we get our first ST game, against the Giants.

Splurge on these Welcome-Back-Baseball-HaloLinks:

A Little Bit Of Angels News

The Angels grabbed Dan Jennings to an MiLB deal. That’s a left-handed reliever most recently with the Brewers, who will be in Tempe trying to earn a post............

And last seasons Rule 5 guy, Luke Bard, was picked back up to a MiLB deal.............

Yep. We are edging ever closer to That Day. In this article where Pujols and Ohtani both are trying to aim for Opening Day (Pujols seems like a lock), Albert was asked if, after his last two flame-out seasons, he had anything to prove in 2019. His response: “I don’t need to show anybody, man...” Pride fashions the garments for denial......It gets worse, though. Albert was quoted as projecting himself to play 162 games. That can only come at some cost to Shohei Ohtani.......Hey, Albert. You already be broked. And we haven’t seen anybody able to fix you for years now...........

Here is your full run-down of the LAA farm system staff. How many names do you recognize?..............

And it’s not just having staff. It’s having a major overhaul of the whole approach to coaching, training, and development. Like joining the rest of MLB is the use of tools such as Rapsodo and Edgertronic. Here is telling testimony, coming from Tyler Skaggs: “I’ve learned more in the past month than I have in the past four or five years.Skaggs has only had 4 semi-significant seasons of MLB ball..............

Percy & Ersty were swapping more then lineup cards over the weekend............

Hey, isn’t this how guys can get butt-hurt?..............

Luis Valbuena, now resting alongside Nick Adenhart...............

Everywhere In Baseball

We get to start seeing pitch clocks in ST, with MLB learning enough to hop-scotch into the regular season later this year..............

More hilariously, Rob Manfred hides behind his curtain of silly denials and rejects the idea that lowering payrolls have anything to do with franchise effort or success. I can think of no other possible thing for him to say to eradicate whatever credibility he had left. He’s a really, really bad liar...........

Aaron Judge. In The Best Shape Of His Life. All 27 years of it............

One guy who seems to loves the low pay of being a Minor League ballplayer, and the unhealthy long-term prospects for a sport of labor-management peace. would be Tim Tebow.............

The downside to throwing away a few years of your franchise while tanking, is that there is no guarantee of sustained success once you get back out of it. This gets worse, I would surmise, because of the rising number of teams cycling through tanking...........

Jeff Passan with the most sane piece of reading since, well, since I wrote today’s Links. It’s a roundup of all sorts of topical issues and it’s about time we started reading something that puts some of the weight back on the shoulders of the players...........

Adam Wainwright with strike talk.................

Remember those heady days of yore when a guy would get signed and was a sure-fire pitching ace in the making? Have you noticed that they don’t exist anymore? That is not by accident.............

Thank you, Jerry............I will never forget.............

Hot Stove

Well the Angels don’t seem to be making a lot of progress by talking. They have talked to a lot of free agents who ended up signing an actual deal, but elsewhere. The latest was Mike Moustakas. Moose, however, signed to return to the Brewers..............

The Mets have signed free agent Adeiny Hechavarria to a minor-league contract............Minor League deals are, as we have noted here, all the rage now. teams are raining MiLB offers onto players at this late rush.............

The Padres took LHP Aaron Loup off the boards with a 1-year deal..............

Luis Severino signed an early-money contract extension. 4-year, $40M with a 5th year option. Now, realize that a franchise wouldn’t bother to make these deals if it were not in their interest. And they are making the deals now, so it is in their interest. The basic idea is that arb rewards are rising, so buying out the arb years and replacing them with a deal that has a lot of zeros on it looks attractive to the player. It’s guaranteed money. But it also is the movement of money from post-30 players to pre-30 players. That is happening as franchises get more rational about pay-for-performance. But the arb system has players too locked up to exploit it. Franchises are taking advantage, and will be in a good position on these players if any new deal with the union tears down the arb system..............

Marcus Stroman is one of those pre-arb guys who want one of them arb-buyout contract extensions. It appears that the Blue Jays are not one of those franchises looking to take advantage............Stroman is also unhappy that the Blue Jays are not one of those many franchises signing Big Time Free Agent veteran leaders to huge deals to help make Toronto competitive............

Khris Davis just went through his final arb season, and is now eligible for Free Agency in 2020. Instead of FA, something to be feared now, he wants a contract extension............

HarpChado talks are heating up......And we are hearing more about those big numbers we expected. Not just from the Phillies, but from the Padres, too. It must be time for those two to go back to work............The Phillies are being rumored to have the edge for Harper. Of course, this comes mainly from Jon Heyman. And we all know what that means...........

Something for Mike-Trout-To-Phillies worrywarts to worry about............

The Duffle Bag

This must be the only time this has ever happened in the history of human batting practice..............Like father, like daughter.............
