A nice second outing shows promise for the rotation.

I gave Trevor Cahill grief for his lack-luster first impression. So I am honor-bound to give him kudos for a great second impression. 3 23 innings of work with 3K’s against 4 hits and a 95mph in only his second start. And he has, what, 4 or 5 more starts before Opening Day? Yes, please. More of that.

A Little Bit Of Angels News

Baseball America sees the journey of Kaleb Cowart returning to the mound, on the very day that Kowart flashes a grand slam.............

Sweet range by David Fletcher at 3B. You watching that, Cozart??..........

LAA social media maven reads my shit, learning yesterday that, yes, the Halos went into the day leading MLB in runs scored. You’re welcome, Arte...........(By the way, if he keeps this up, at what point do we start to think about making room on the 25-man for Jarrett Parker? Parker is keeping pace with Byron Bruxton of Minnesota, and the baseball world is going gaga for Bruxton!)..........

Meet Forrest Snow, The Most Interesting Man In a Halo..........

Mike Trout, cool dude..........

Everywhere In Baseball

Hot Take of the Day. These guys are math geniuses, so who am I to quibble when they claim that Bryce Harper may have already peaked? I think they need to wait a little bit and see how Harper exploits his new home ballpark...........I will agree to this, though, Harper still ain’t no Giancarlo Stanton............

MLB’s new “mud less” baseballs are on trial already. Now, snagging a home run or foul ball or having Mike Trout autograph a ball that is labeled “PROTOTYPE” is certainly something I would advise pursuing. Decades from now your grand-kids will thank your cold, ignored, tombstone...........

Bryce Harper will be blowing up the Internet on Saturday, when he makes his first showing in full gear for Phillies fans......I don’t know how Harper Illustrated, which already features Bryce on 8 of their cover page feature stories, will survive their own hoopla..........

Based on this, I predict that the Royals will lead MLB in baserunning outs made at 3B this season.............

No duh moment. Clayton Kershaw ready to start for the Dodgers on Opening Day? Hell no. Not at this rate...........

Stupid study. I would like to state that if MLB changed the rules and home runs became bad things, Mike Trout the Velociraptor certainly wouldn’t be letting himself hit home runs anymore...........

This is why Baby Vlad is not ready for MLB. He needs to work on his conditioning. I assume that the Blue Jays are worrying about Prince Fielder Syndrome..........Speaking of Baby Vlad, this kind of whining is just stupid. People are complaining that MLB is promoting Jr. even while the Blue Jays will be holding him back in AAA. Here and now here. First of all, while we might not like it, the Blue Jays are not doing anything untoward. They are using the services of the CBA to which the MLBPA sat down and negotiated, granting them that latitude. But more to the point, there is zero conflict about being hyped and anticipated and enjoyed, even though the object of all that affection is still on his journey. Celebrating guys coming up and into MLB is precisely why we are so passionate about our farm systems in the first place. There is no law that says hype needs to be placed on hold until the player is permanently at the 25-man level..........

TheRinger has hit the motherlode. Some scout, ex of the Cincinnati organization, has handed over 73,000 reports and all week they will be sharing highlights. Don’t get too excited, though. They only go up to 2003. Trout was only 12 then..........

Somewhere in the greater NYC area is an abandoned warehouse where aged MFY goomba fans congregate in secret and foment plans to resurrect The Federation of Steinbrenner. Right now we see the Yankees not getting Machado, and not getting Harper, and only getting Stanton via a lopsided trade with an ex-Yankee desperate to save all the money. And they don’t want to even talk about that kind of stuff anymore. They are not the Evil Empire anymore, no matter what they try to sell you..........

Three cool finds from UniWatch: Phillips Academy Andover created a memorial patch for George Bush SENIOR, but those in charge with whipping that up got the sig wrong. They used that of George Bush JUNIOR. Actually, it was this guy who got it wrong.....Cards prospect Daniel Poncedeleon is in the process of legally changing his name to Daniel...Ponce de Leon. Yeah. This guy.....Bryce Harper, now wearing uniform #3, is gonna need a new personal merchandising logo..........

Sorry all you teams that did all that work in the offseason. The Astros are still here..........

There is something to be said about a sport empowering it’s content. That would be the players, whose efforts are the reason we pay any attention. It’s an approach that is not failing the NBA..........

Nolan Arenado, Manny Machado, or Bryce Harper: who go the best contract? Turns out, factoring in Net Present Value and taxes and opt-out opportunities, they are pretty much equal............

The Duffle Bag

Mike Shildt of the Cards thinks that baseball does need a universal ruling on the DH, but that it should go away for BOTH leagues. His reasoning? Because Cards pitchers can hit. Let me be the one to point out to him that no, they cannot.............Very cool historic photo of The Catch, but looking at Willie Mays head on. I have never seen that before.........Personally, I think great fielding plays are the best thing about baseball. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why I am in such a minority..........Jose Canseco coaching Tim Tebow? They should charge admission..........

OT: Here is your PSA of the Day, reminding you how ineffective is the threat of testing on actual PEDs usage..........
