Ok. It’s late. I have been in meetings all morning, afternoon and evening. I have to be up at the buttcrack of dawn and back at meetings until mid-afternoon. I don’t have time to pontificate. But I have enough time to assemble some shotgun-style links for you instead of forcing a DYI. I am here for YOU, so I got this. Here goes.
Sip on these Make-Of-Them-What-You-Will-HaloLinks:
A Little Bit Of Angels News
Ohtani making progress, taking swings from the cage.............
Matt Harvey looked good. Mid to upper 90’s over 3 innings with only 1 run surrendered on only 2 hits..........
Mike Trout’s rookie card, from all the way back in time to 2011, sells for a gob-smacking $186,000. I mean, after 7 whole years, how many of those things can there be? Well, it did come with an autograph..........
MLB has rules against it, but Bryce Harper continues to recruit Mike Trout.....The Angels would like for that to stop.....MLB is going to look into it.....But Harper knows that the MLB lawyers are toothless on this.....So east coast media is so sophisticated that they can dismiss it all as weenie whining..........
Ok. I have to pontificate here. I can’t leave this one unchallenged. Deadspin is on of those oh-so-sophisticated media outlets. They praise the Phillies by defining them: “Theirs is a team currently boasting what many others in baseball don’t have: a collection of good young players, a freshly signed young superstar, and a willingness to spend large sums of money on its roster.” Well, let’s see here. The Angels have Shohei Ohtani and Andrelton Simmons and Justin Upton(only just turned 31), to go with Jaime Barria and Michael Hermosillo and Tyler Skaggs and Andrew Heaney, all of whom comprise some pretty good young talent. And the LAA farm system rates every bit as good as that of the Phillies. Meanwhile, the LAA young superstar is TWICE the player as that of the Phillies. And Arte Moreno was the 7th most willing spender of large sums of money in 2018 (while Philadelphia was 23rd), and is NOW the 5th most willing spender of large sums of money in 2019 (after all they did, the Phillies climbed up to only 13th)..........
Come back to us, good version of Cody Allen..........
Torii Hunter, Jr. Like father, like son.........
Albert Pujols milestone watch, 2019..........
Split squad today..........
Everywhere In Baseball
Red Sox player suspended for PEDs. I know. Shocking.............
This is different. Before managers get to exchange lineup cards prior to the game start, they have to exchange them first with the commissioner’s office. It’s all about sports gambling. This kinda makes that pre-game thing irrelevant, no?..........At least one (unnamed) MLB manager is pissed about this..........
Oh, I did not know that Dallas Keuchel’s agent was Scott Boras. Now I get it..........
As if the MLB All-Star roster engineering ain’t silly enough, MLB is looking to silly-fy the silliness..........
Rob Manfred still trying to find a cover story for Free Agency that sticks..........
Bullpen catchers are people, too. (I wonder. In some games, don’t they get more work that the actual game catcher?)..........
Holy shit. Khris Davis is even more amazingly consistent than we all knew. If only .247 for a batting average was a good thing.........
The Yankees are trying to be more like the Tampa Bay Rays..........
The Dodgers might be pressing their luck with Clayton Kershaw..........
Part 2 of The Ringer’s treasure trove of scouting reports..........
The Duffle Bag
Double-bobble.............Luke Heimlich found employment in baseball..........(h/t UniWatch) Matt Shoemaker still getting the name humor...........
Sorry, but that’s all I got time for. See you tomorrow!
