It’s Matt Harvey Day again! What are the odds?

MLB: Houston Astros at Los Angeles Angels Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

Let’s be honest. Matt Harvey taking the mound this season is like holding a pair of tres when nobody else at the table is even daring to bet. Your expectations are pretty low, but there’s still a chance.

Here we are. It’s the Royals at the table. They don’t even bet on themselves. But we got Harvey. And we are rolling him out there for the first inning. Do we dare raise?

Buckle up with these Know-When-To-Hold-’em-HaloLinks:

A Little Bit Of Angels News

I went into this article on the Worst Hitters of the 21st Century wondering where Jeff Mathis or Brandon Wood ended up. But the actual surprise was even funnier than that! Click and read...........

The Chicago Cubs are looking over to Anaheim and watching Tommy LaStella with some serious envy............

Don’t blame the Cubs for LaStella. Blame the Angels coaching staff.......Simply put, they got Tommy to stand up straight. Sounds like my mom.......(By the way, I am sad to report that the canned phot libraries for SBN, both Getty and USA Today, have no LaStella pictures of him as a Halo. Cubs? Sure................

$$ - Dominic Breazeale is a WBC heavyweight contender, fighting for the title this Saturday. He is a SoCal guy and he is an Angels fan. We gotta root for this guy!.............

Everywhere In Baseball

Draft Stuff: Your likely #1 overall pick, Adley Rutschman. Hey, and he’s a catcher!.....And let’s go beyond just the #1 pick, where Billy Eppler is looking for high school kids........$$ - Keith Law recalls the 2009 draft, counting up all the busts........

This is less about linkage and more about observation. The MLB home page, which will surely be different by the time you read this, is currently Exhibit A for what is messed up about baseball. Every one of these article titles is on the home page as of 8:40PM PDT: “Can Yelich be stopped? Hits HRs No. 17 and 18”.....”Cron nearly clears stadium”.....”A’s crush 5 home runs”.....”Ozuna’s long home run to left”.....”Statcast: Pence’s 456-foot homer”.....”Parra’s 2-run dinger”.....”Profar’s grand slam”.....”Grandal’s 3-run homer to right”.....Get the picture?..........

Why is NASA not including Angels Stadium in their Apollo 11 moon landing anniversary celebration? The list of SoCal scientific, engineering, construction and communications/coordination that made Apollo happen is an encyclopedia all by itself. And the Stadium was literally surrounded by these teams of contractors. The Angels were even hosting the A’s that weekend, so the moon was shining down on baseball in Anaheim that very night.

$$ - Here we go. MLB is introducing the electronic strike zone to the Atlantic League next month............

This must be because Major League baseball is so good at marketing. How else to explain how it is that they keep selecting their marquee games and move them 9 time zones away, to some foreign country that uses a strike zone made out of sticks instead of radar?..............

Bucketloads of strikeouts are happening all over baseball. But pitchers are not reaping the warped personal glory like sluggers are reaping. Why not? Because of things like Openers and pitch limits............

Here is why Mike Fiers and his TWO career no-hitters are so stupid. The Padres, who have known the likes of Jake Peavy, Randy Jones, Andy Benes, Bruce Hurst and more, have not seen a no-hitter from one of their pitchers, ever. Now at more than 8000 games and counting. More than any MLB team, ever.............

Legends don’t last forever. The Mets are finding that out. They have Robinson Cano.............

Ouch. Maybe we need players wearing helmets in defense?.............

Here we go! The Austin Adams twins who are not twins both got called up to The Show at the same time and, as luck would have it, they faced off against each other last night. This, where they met for the very first time..............

Diamilette Quiles makes history by taking first base in a traditionally all-male baseball tournament in Puerto Rico................

The Historically Black College and Universities World Series cranks up next week. Promoting black American participation in our sport enriches us all. I hope I don’t have to go deep diving through the Internet to keep up and share the results............

MiLB players can get paid only if they organize. See how easy it is to read that? So, so easy to imagine. But we are talking about transitory players with extremely short time spans and no faction beyond their own families back home that would stand in support of them...........We have already seen MLB corrupt Congress into legislating the servitude, and we are watching MLB gearing up to strong-arm free citizens of other nations. Really and truly there is only one organized body capable of installing some rational fairness to all this, but that organization is the MLBPA, where priorities are personal luxuries for the senior membership...........

The Duffle Bag

This makes sense. If any franchise is going to pull off a Seinfeld night, it would be the Mets. Sure, Yankee fans have their George Costanza, but Seinfeld made a mockery of both George and...well...George.............Golf is a really big deal in Japan. They take it seriously. Almost as seriously, apparently, as baseball practice............TV broadcasts really should show more of these idiots getting clobbered on the field...........This is how it’s done, fans of all ages.............This is why losing to Baltimore was inexcusable..............
