Ever wonder what happened to the guys you cheered for last year? Of course you do! Here is a list of the relevant* guys the Angels let “get away” and how they are doing so far in 2019.

*Hitters with at least 50 PA and Pitchers with at least 10 IP.

Ian Kinsler (37)

Won a World series with the Red Sox and landed on the Padres where he is hitting .151 over 86 ABs with a -0.7 WAR.

Martin Maldonado (32)

Didn’t have a job to start the season but ended up on the Royals after Salvador Perez got injured. He’s hitting .182 with 1 HR over 23 games and has a “lowly” 27% caught stealing rate.

Jefry Marte (27)

Went to play for the Hashin Tigers in Japan and so far has just 2 hits (including a home run) in 15 ABs.

Chris Young (35)

Hasn’t been signed this year, so the Angels in 2018 may have been his swan song.

Kaleb Cowart (26)

Cowart had a busy off season after the Mariners snagged him off waivers in December, then the Tigers in January before he ended up back on the Angels in February. He’s 1 for 11 in Mobile and has given up 2 runs in 2 innings pitched.

José Miguel Fernández (31)

JMF went to play for the Doosan Bears in Korea and he’s crushing it there. Over 32 games and 142 plate appearances, he has 7 home runs and is hitting .392 with a .458 OBP.

Eric Young Jr. (34)

Here’s patrolling the outfield for Jerry up in Tacoma for the AAA Rainiers. He’s hitting .227 there with a .286 OBP.

Francisco Arcia (29)

The Cubs signed him as a minor league free agent and he’s hitting .182 for AAA Iowa over 14 games.

René Rivera (35)

Rivera has been busy moving around. He was claimed off waiver by the Braves in August then become a free agent in October. The Giants signed and released him and he ende dup on the Mets before the season started where he is hitting .150 over 40 ABs

Jabari Blash (29)

Blash also went to play in the Japanese League and it’s no surprise he has 5 home runs over 22 games. He’s also hitting .247 with a .356 OBP.

Garrett Richards (30)

The Padres signed him to a 2-year deal but he won’t play this year due to TJ surgery.

Blake Parker (34)

Parker has been dominant for the Twins with a 0.96 ERA, 0.964 WHIP, and 8 Ks over 9.1 IP. He is 6 for 6 in saves and 2 for 2 in holds.

Jim Johnson (35)

Hasn’t signed anywhere.

Jose Alvarez (30)

Has had a rough time in Philly with a 7.20 ERA and 8 ER allowed over 10 IP. He has a 3.91 ERA if you take away his one bad outing in early April.

Matt Shoemaker (32)

Poor guy was absolute nails for the Blue Jays before hurting his knee. He started 5 games and sported a 1.57 ERA and 0.872 WHIP.

Deck McGuire (30)

McGuire went to pitch in the KBO. He’s started 7 games and has a 5.30 ERA with 7 home runs allowed.

Odrisamer Despaigne (32)

Somehow this dude found a job, though it’s in AAA for the Reds. He has a 6.14 ERA over 6 starts.

Eduardo Paredes (24)

Once a promising prospect, the Tigers picked him up this off season but released him a week ago. He had an 8.25 ERA in 12 innings for AAA Toledo this year.

Akeel Morris (26)

He found a job in the independent Atlantic League. He’s thrown 2.2 innings there with 1 run allowed.

Blake Wood (33)

Still a free agent.

John Lamb (28)

Still a free agent.
