Yay! As long as the Angels have 25 guys in the majors, does it really matter who can play where?
Because Tuesday, the Angels sent Zack Cozart to the injured list:
The #Angels will be placing Zack Cozart on the injured list today with a left shoulder issue. OF Cesar Puello has been recalled. There will also be a 40-man roster move for Puello. And they have to make a move to create a spot for Tropeano too.— Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) May 28, 2019
Cesar Puello is an outfielder. Only.
Cozart’s struggles this year, to the tune of a .322 OPS, might have been caused by the left shoulder injury that might not have ever fully healed.
While initially this move might cause Angel fans to breathe a sigh of relief, with Cozart no longer available for Brad Ausmus to use, the Angels now have three infielders for the non-first infield positions.
If David Fletcher, Luis Rengifo, or Tommy La Stella goes down, we may see some interesting lineup maneuvering.
Reminder: this is a major league baseball team. There is not a left-handed relief pitcher nor a backup 2B, SS, or 3B.
