Game Preview: Angels @ Cubs (Make up Game)

Angels (29-30) @ Cubs (31-26)

These two teams were slated to play game 3 of their series back on April 14th. The series was tied at 1-1 but snow and rain axed game 3 which will be made up today. As luck would have it (probably for the Cubs), Trevor Cahill will be starting this game AND hew was supposed to start the postponed game on April 14th. Crazy how that works out. Technically - Cam Bedrosian is starting this game and Cahill will presumably jump in for the 2nd inning. Let’s hope the opener role works out well for Cahill.

The Angels have been playing better as of late and the Cubs have not. The Cubs were swept over the weekend by the Cardinals and dropped their prior series to the Astros and Reds. They also split with the Phillies. That all adds up to 4 wins over their last 13 games.

Angels Summary:

Today will mark Trevor Cahill’s first game of 2019 where he won’t pitch int he 1st inning. Cam Bedrosian will be used as the opener and maybe this will help us see better results from Cahill who had an 8.22 ERA in the month of May.

Cubs Summary:

Jon Lester is a lefty of course, who can’t pick off runners very well. Perhaps we’ll see some Angels steal some bases today? Assuming they get on base, of course. The good news is that Lester has been a mess in his last 3 starts, giving up 19 runs (16 earned) on 25 hits over 14 innings. Today would not be a great day for Lester to “re-find” himself.
