Today’s Mike Trout home run daily brings us back to April 27 2016, the final game of a weekend series at home against the Royals in Anaheim. The Angels were going for a sweep.

Eric Hosmer hit a two-run home run in the first inning, and Tall Chris Young made that 2-0 lead hold up until Trout came along in the fourth inning. This was a shot to straightaway center, easily clearing the hedges.

This was just as Trout was heating up, after a very slow start. He had just one home run in his first 14 games, hitting .220/.333/.340. But this home run on April 27 gave Trout an eight-game hit streak, which included four home runs.

This was Trout’s fifth home run of the season, and the 144th of his career. He’s just 2-for-11 in his career against Chris Young, but both hits were home runs. The other one, hit on July 20, 2014, came up on the Mike Trout home run daily on April 6.

The Angels finished off the sweep.
